Shipping your golf clubs doesn't have to be stressful. Follow these step-by-step golf club shipping instructions so your clubs arrive safe and sound—you can skip the baggage claim and head straight to the course.

Clear packing tape
Painter's tape and torque bit (optional, for removable heads)
Stiff arm (recommended for extra protection)
Shipping labels (printed from your SendMyGear email or account)
Zip ties (for securing labels)
Luggage tag or sturdy cardboard (optional if no luggage tag—not necessary for cardboard boxes)
Follow in order
Prepare, label, and ship
1
Prepare your clubs
Remove detachable heads
If your clubs have removable heads (such as your driver), unscrew them from the shafts. Note their settings (loft, angle, etc.) so you can reassemble them the same way later.
Tip
Store the heads in their headcovers for extra protection during transport.
Unscrew adjustable heads with the correct torque tool.
Photograph or write down loft and alignment marks before you disassemble.
Protect loose heads in headcovers inside the bag.
Wrap the shafts
Wrap the shafts with plenty of cushioning (golf towels, bubble wrap, etc.). The padding should be thick enough to protect the shafts from impacts in transit.
Goal
Minimize empty space inside the bag so clubs cannot shift and bang together.
Secure the padding
Use strong clear packing tape to hold your packing material in place.
Tip
If there is extra space, add more padding until everything is snug. Use as much bubble wrap or as many towels as you need so nothing can move during transportation.
Start with clubs organized in the bag, then build padding around them.
Layer bubble wrap or towels over the heads to fill the opening.
Tape padding so it cannot slide out during handling.
Optional stiff arm extends above the clubs to absorb downward pressure.
Add a stiff arm (optional but highly recommended)
Insert a stiff arm into your bag and extend it until it locks. It helps absorb impacts in transit and reduces the chance of crown or shaft damage.
Place clubs in the travel bag or case
Once clubs are well padded, place them in your travel bag, hard case, or cardboard box. Everything should fit snugly so clubs cannot slide or rattle.
Tip
Double-check that zippers or latches are fully closed.
Remove unwanted items
Take out any personal items or accessories you do not intend to ship.
Add shoes, golf balls, and gloves (optional)
If you still have safe, stable space, you can add shoes, balls, gloves, or other small items—only if they do not reduce padding or compress clubs awkwardly.
2
Attach your shipping labels
Print two copies of the shipping label after you purchase online—one for the inside of the bag, one for the outside.
Place one label inside the bag. Tuck a copy inside your travel bag or hard case in case the exterior label is damaged or lost.
Attach the second label to the outside.
Soft bags and hard travel cases: Use a luggage tag or sturdy cardboard. Tape the label to the cardboard and zip-tie it to the bag handle or hardware so it cannot tear off.
Cardboard boxes: Use clear packing tape to attach the label to the upper portion of the box so it stays flat and fully visible.
Ensure the label is secure. On soft fabric, avoid taping the label directly to the bag material—it can peel off in transit. Prefer a rigid tag or pouch plus zip ties.
Keep a full second copy of the label inside the bag.
Zip-tie a clear pouch to the handle so the barcode stays readable.
Pull the zip tie snug, trim excess if you like, and confirm nothing blocks the scans.
On cardboard, tape over the entire label so edges cannot lift.

Final checks and shipping
Before you hand the bag to UPS (pickup or dropoff), run through this list:
Clubs are securely padded and packed tight with no loose gaps.
Labels are attached inside and outside as described above.
With packing and labeling done, you're ready to ship—whether you scheduled a pickup from home or you're dropping your clubs at a shipping location. You're set to meet your bag at the course and skip the hassle of flying with sticks.
